Pilchard Pie


120ml butter, melted

1 x 400g Lucky Star Pilchards in Tomato Sauce

140g cake flour

20 ml sesame seeds

1 med. onion , finely chopped

1 tsp mustard powder

1 tsp fish spice

2 tsp lemon juice

30 ml mayonnaise

2 large eggs

1/2 cup grated cheddar cheese

1/2 cup milk or cream


Crust: Melt butter, mix flour & add in sesame seeds, then press into pie dish. Bake for 10 minutes at 200*C, remove, set aside.

Filling: Mash pilchards, mix with onion, mustard powder, fish spice, lemon juice, mayonnaise & 1 egg. Spoon into pie crust & top with grated cheese .

Mix cream or milk with remaining egg, pour over the filling Bake in a preheated oven (200*C) for 30 min or until set
